Today Tim and I took our daily walk.  We stopped at the supermarket to get the fixings for WW turkey chili.  Soon after we left home, it started hailing.  When we got out of the store, it rained.  Just as we got home, it snowed.  It was a great day to blog, do some more writing, and, after making dinner, saute a bunch of apples with cinnamon and nutmeg.  It made the whole house smell wonderful!  We're planning to see "PS I Love You" next week at the movie theater.  I usually love romantic comedies.  Hope it's good!  Happy holidays!  I posted a picture of my son, Sal, was when he was a toddler at Christmastime.  He's grown now, but my fondest Christmas memories are of his very young years, when my Mom was alive too. 

Today was a beautiful, sunny, breezy day around 82 degrees with very low humidity.  Tim and I decided to take a long walk.  We walked about 3.5 miles all the way around Prospect Park, stopping along the way to take pictures of a lady's horse, a baseball team playing on the ballfield, and Odetta, a folk/blues band playing at the bandshell in the park.  I'll have to get the film developed and post some pics here on Mindsay. 

 

We just got back from walking through the park to Pioneer Supermarket to get ice cream and cookies on sale.  Seems like it kind of defeats the purpose of the walking, but I'm being careful not to eat more of the ice cream just because I take regular walks now.  I plan to add some yoga and pilates to my program as soon as I get used to all this walking.  I've lost inches but not weight yet. 

 

I'm looking around the house for my Weight Watcher's books and diet gimmicks and haven't found them yet.  I plan to count points again.  That's better for me than trying to go completely without any treats.

Tim and I walk at Prospect Park nearly every day.  My Sister, Mary, took this picture of us right inside the park entrance near our home.  We often picnic there, walk around the walking path which is 3.5 miles, take pictures there and sit by the lake and feed the ducks and geese.  We try to stay cool there as you can often get a breeze in a shady spot there even when you can't elsewhere in our neighborhood.  Our apartment building has a courtyard, but we prefer to go to the park.  In Summer, it's very heavily used for cycling, jogging, walking and during the rush hour in the morning and evening, cars are allowed there.  Weekends are very difficult as many people barbecue and picnic there then, and it's difficult to find a nice shady spot because they're all taken early.  That's life in a big city like New York.  That's one reason why I love the other seasons--because many people drop out of the scene, and it's emptier and as a result, cleaner. 

Here is a picture that my friend Valerie, who works at Lonelyville Cafe, took of me and Tim in the Lonelyville Cafe garden.  Today we went to the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens and took pictures.  We asked a couple of people to take our picture together, and I took some closeups of the giant lily on a lily pad in the lily pond and some other flowers.  I can't wait to get them developed and loaded on my computer!
